ACX — Audiobook Creation Exchange

Editing

An audiobook needs to sound polished but natural. An expert audio editor like myself fixes any issues and mistakes while leaving the listener none the wiser. If your audiobook doesn't sound perfect, platforms like Audible won't accept it, so it is imperative that you work with an experienced professional!

ACX is Audible's marketplace that approves or denies all submissions. A few of their editing requirements include:

  • Each uploaded file must be free of extraneous sounds such as plosives, mic pops, mouse clicks, excessive mouth noise, and outtakes
  • Each file must have 0.5 to 1 second of room tone at its beginning and 1 to 5 seconds of room tone at its end

Mixing & Mastering

Audible has strict guidelines for audio released on its platform. After enduring their notoriously long approval process, there is nothing worse than finding out that they rejected your submission due to formatting issues. If you choose to work with me, I guarantee the final product will be of professional quality and compliant with all ACX standards, including:

  • A final average loudness of between -23dB and -18dB RMS
  • Peak values no higher than -3dB
  • A noise floor no higher than -60dB RMS
  • 192kbps or higher 44.1kHz MP3, Constant Bit Rate (CBR)
  • All files in the same channel format (all mono or all stereo files)
